A downloadable project

Description:
This is a 3D animation project which is made by a group of four students in Monash university. This short film tells about how a young boy’s guitar dream achieved through his mother’s support. The flashback technique is used to create suspense at the beginning of the video and make it more interesting and unique. Both 2D and 3D elements are involved to sublimate the project and bring the audience different experience. This project aims to use stylised aesthetics as a whole to create an inspiring short 3D film with a warm ending.

Role: Story Designer, Level Designer, 3D Artist, Audio Editor

Target Audience: Music lover, Young parents, Kids

Contribution: Came up with the whole story. Finished the level designs of Market area, Community area and living room. Completed part of both interior and exterior modeling works. Recorded and edited Guitar music.

Inspiration:
The original story concept came up through my dream after I watched “Rock Dog”. This movie tells the story of the main character’s father from not supporting his dream at the beginning and turns to supporting his dream at the end. The whole animated story from unsupportive to supportive is where my original idea came from.

Then the movie “Coco” inspired me the conflict that guitar dream is forbidden by family.

“Bao” uses the technique of jumping from dream to reality. I learnt from this unique selling point and came out with using flashback technique in my project.

Goal:
To create a 3D animation video with the theme of pursuing a music dream. The animation takes the family as the theme and narrates the process of a boy with amazing guitar talent who pursues his music dream even though his music dream is not supported by his family. This short film aims to create a heartwarming and inspiring story in the form of a 3D animation video to encourage children to pursue their dreams. On the other hand, if audiences are parents, it is more important for them to properly support their children's reasonable dreams for their growth.
